Principal theme: SCIENCE and TECHNOLOGY
The Beauharnois Generating Station is located 40 km southwest of Montréal. To reach it, take Highway 132 in the direction of Beauharnois. The station is a few kilometres beyond the city centre, in the direction of Salaberry-de-Valleyfield.

Strength and beauty!
Housed in an Art Deco-style building, the Beauharnois generating station has been an integral part of the Montérégie landscape for the past 75 years. The interpretation centre deals with the themes of heritage, technology and history, as well as with the environment and electricity production. The generating station is one of the biggest in the world. Thirty-eight generating turbines, extending in a row for almost a kilometre, make the Beauharnois Generating Station one of Hydro-Québec’s most powerful stations.
Come to this heritage generating station to discover fascinating aspects of our history and the development of technology!
IN ADDITION TO VISITING THE GENERATING STATION
Travel back in time
When visiting Beauharnois, don’t miss the interpretation centre that pays homage to builders and craftsmen of long ago. Viewing the equipment used when the generating station was first built is truly like travelling back in time!
