National Historic Site
Principal theme : HISTORY
Only 35 minutes from Montreal.

From Chambly to Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, the canal features nine locks and six operational bridges. It allows for a 22-metre rise over a distance of 19 kilometres. Open to navigation since 1843, the canal use to play a leading role in Quebec's forest products industry. It now welcomes pleasure crafts.
On foot or bicycle, take advantage of the multi-purpose trail to discover the canal's unique character and the manual operating of most of the bridges and locks, run by lock operators as in the olden days.
IN ADDITION TO EXHIBITIONS
- Observe boats using the locks
- Multi-purpose trail that follows the canal from Chambly to St-Jean-sur-Richelieu.
