Elementary (Cycles 2 and 3) and Secondary
Built in three main stages starting in 1929, the Beauharnois Generating Station is one of the largest hydroelectric stations in the world. School children are impressed by the nearly kilometre-long row of 38 generating turbines that make Beauharnois one of Hydro-Québec’s most powerful stations. They are amazed by this monument to human ingenuity dating from over 75 years ago and are intrigued by its award-winning Art Deco architecture, which has earned the station its status as a Québec heritage treasure.
At the Beauharnois Generating Station, school groups enjoy guided tours designed to meet the requirements of the Québec Education Program. These tours are intended for Elementary Cycles 2 and 3 and for the Secondary level.
