Built in 1792 on the Grand Châteauguay seigneury, the Maison LePailleur played its first public role as the village’s general store. With its typical Québec architecture, the house is today a unique interpretation centre, offering visitors an opportunity to enter the everyday lives of those who once inhabited it. Students become acquainted with these people’s work and lifestyle, as well as their political and religious convictions.
Specializing in 19th-century history, the Maison LePailleur proposes various educational programs related to the history of Québec. The approach used makes it possible to organize made-to-measure pedagogical activities that respect the objectives of Social Universe courses and meet the needs of teachers.
